1st ICCP Workshop on Cloud Microphysics Ice Formation in Clouds and Precipitation Addressing and Solving Measurement Problems Workshop Objectives 1) To identify critical, unsolved scientific questions related to the evolution of ice in clouds and precipitation and our capacity to simulate this evolution in cloud and climate models. 2) To summarize the uncertainties and limitations of in situ and remote sensors related to measurements of ice particle properties. 3) To assess and evaluate potential approaches to reduce the uncertainties and minimize the limitations related to measurements of ice cloud properties, including a review of emerging technologies.
Many thanks to Ms. Eva Choffat, ETH, for her help with arranging meeting rooms, participant badges, coffee breaks, lunches and social hour.
Charge to Working Groups 1-6, 8 Working group objective is to produce slides with the following information: 1) One or two figures that most succinctly illustrate the nature of the scientific issues being addressed. 2) Prioritize from most to least important the unknowns associated with the working group topic. 3) Prioritize from most to least important the model parameters or processes that need to be improved to accurately represent ice properties. 4) List concrete recommendations for future actions to resolve unknowns and minimize measurement limitations and uncertainties.
Charge to Working Groups 7, 10&11 Working group objective is to produce slides with the following information: 1) One or two figures that most succinctly illustrate the nature of the measurement issues being addressed. 2) Prioritize from most to least important the limitations and uncertainties associated with the working group topic. 3) List concrete recommendations for future actions to resolve or minimize the measurement limitations and uncertainties.
Workshop Products 1) Summary at DACA-13: July 8, 10:15-11:45 Session C2.2.
