Kisumu, also formerly was known as Port Florence, sits on Winam Gulf formerly Kavirondo Gulf, on the north eastern corner of Lake Victoria. • Lake Victoria is the world's largest tropical lake, and the world's second largest fresh water lake with a shoreline of 7,142 km and is divided among three countries: Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania .   6. Kisumu Impala Sanctuary Park Set on the shore of Lake Victoria, the Kisumu Impala Sanctuary is a peaceful, relaxing place to enjoy the natural beauty that abounds here. 

  7. Dunga Hill Camp Mostly associated with leisure as a perfect site for camping, picnic or a venue for relaxing with family or friends. Kayaking, boat riding, fishing, and abundant birdlife all make Dunga Hill a serene scenery spot to enjoy nature.

  8. Hippo Point via Kiboko Bay The sunsets in Kisumu are mesmerizing, Hippo point offers you a chance to experience just that. Located a few kilometers away from the city, get a chance to view amazing wildlife, spot hippos and sleep in the wild at one of the camping sites within the area. Hippo point is a fantastic site for organized boat racing or taking boat tours of the lake with family and friends.

  9. Lwang’niBeach You cannot visit Kisumu without visiting this favorite fish spot. Kisumu is famous for fresh, tasty Tilapia fish and Lwang’niBeach offers you the delicious fish dishes. You can nibble some mouth-watering fish with Ugali and end it all with a boat ride.   10. Kisumu Museum The museum boasts a comprehensive exhibit gallery displaying material and culture of the people of Western Nyanza with emphasis on traditional clothing, jewelry, fishing gear, hunting weapons, farming and farm tools used in the past centuries.

  11. Crying stone of Kakamega The Crying Stones of Ilesi located in Kakamega County of western Kenya is about 20 minutes drive from Kisumu county. Experience the mystery of the ‘weeping stone.’

  12. K’Ogelo Village. K’ogelo, ancestral home to the former US President – Barrack Hussein Obama, who was the 44th president of the United States, and the first black president to serve in the office.
