Approach Access to Quality SRH/HIV Services incorporates various approaches, being implemented at different levels of the health system and focussing on specific geographic programme areas • advocate and provide capacity building for skilled facility based deliveries • Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of SRH/HIV/Aids prevention and service provision by linking these services • Built capacity to take into account specific needs of young people when using health services (youth friendly services) • Strengthen male involvement in sexual and reproductive health service delivery • Built capacity to improve the scope of SRH service provision (fistula surgery, cervival cancer screening, post abortion care) The Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and HIV/AIDS Component
Activities • Curricula development for joint training on linking SRH/HIV prevention and services • Advising on the adaptation of guidelines, curricula, supervision tools in regards to linking SRH/HIV • Supportive supervision to strengthen MNCH services • On the job training in Emergency Obstetric care • Capacity building in simple fistula surgery • Capacity building in cervical cancer screening through low cost screening techniques (visual inspection and freezing pre-cervical carcinoma) • Capacity building to improve responsiveness of health facilities to the needs of adolescents in regards to SRH/HIV/Aids The Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and HIV/AIDS Component
Challenges At TGPSH level • Few financial programme resources for scaling up the implementation of activities, that remain punctual • New team which still has to define clear roles and responsabilities to complement each other At national, regional, district level • Insufficient human (only 40% available) and material resources and frequent rotation/absence of staff • Poor management capacity at all levels leading to losses in efficiency The Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and HIV/AIDS Component
Next steps • Support planning and implementation processes in regards to linking SRH/HIV prevention and service provision • Advocate, provide information and promote the rights of men and women in regards to quality SRH/HIV services • Support scaling up of interventions that improve the utilisation of SRH/HIV services by men and women The Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and HIV/AIDS Component
