In this study, we measure thermal and electrical performance degradation of LED driver in a commercially available lamp. The characteristics of new and aged samples are investigated which shows higher temperature and higher power dissipation for aged samples. This information are used for predicting the lifetime of the LED driver. 0-hour Lamps 6000-hour Lamps Thermal Experiments Temperature of the critical LED driver components and the outside casing is measured by means of an Infra-Red thermal imager in an controlled ambient temperature environment. Electrical Experiments The electrical measurements are done in the same controlled ambient temperature environment. Conclusion: Lifetime Prediction Due to measurements results, the temperature of essential components in LED driver are predicted. The first component which reaches its maximum tolerance temperature defines the lifetime of the device. LED driver lifetime: At around 32500 hours (≈ 3.7 years) first component reaches its maximum limit.
