Nine lines of movement. Purpose: to obtain perfect alignment; they help you with the actual energy your muscles will use. 1. Mid back to sacrum- Lengthen the lower spine. 2. Pubic symphasis to sternum-pull up in the abdominal section. (#1 and #2 work together.)

Nine lines of movement • Purpose: to obtain perfect alignment; they help you with the actual energy your muscles will use.
1.Mid back to sacrum- Lengthen the lower spine. • 2. Pubic symphasis to sternum-pull up in the abdominal section. (#1 and #2 work together.) • 3. From the top of the sternum to the center of your skull- keeps head and neck in alignment. • 4. Narrowing ribcage- energy for your muscles, lowers shoulders.
5. Back of pelvis-widening across the back. • 6. Narrowing across the front-helps set your weight over your feet. • 7. Center of the knee to the center of the femoral joint- keeps your feet from rolling in. • 8. From the big toe to the heel-critical to Pointe dancers. • 9. Whole spine- central axis of the trunk.

Ligaments-deal with the strength and limitation of movement. • Spinal Column-24 vertebrae- 7 cervical,12 thoracic, 5 lumbar. • Lumbar region is where most back injuries occur. • Sacrum- 5 small bones that connect together to make one large bone. • Coccyx- a bone with no function.
