Program Delivery • Modify educational programs for under-served • Increase participation of under-represented groups serving on program planning and advisory committees • Increase membership of under-represented in4-H community clubs and special interests • Adjust program for customers with disabilities

  4. Public Notification • Advise potential clientele of non-discrimination program requirements • Display “…And Justice For All” poster in office and other facilities • Inform groups with who we cooperate on the nondiscriminatory requirements of Extension • Use statements, photos and graphics to convey the message of equal opportunity in material released to public • Use sex-neutral language

  5. Civil Rights Training • Conduct civil rights training annually for all staff • Conduct training for dealing effectively with the growing diversity in communities

  6. Civil Rights Compliance Reviews • Establish and implement a systematic procedure for conducting civil rights reviews

  7. Employment • Equal Employment Opportunity requires: • A plan for recruitment of diverse employees. • Full utilization of staff skills • Access to training, promotion, and awards • Fair processing of complaints • Accessible EEO counselors

Complaint Procedures • Anyone can complain to: USDA, Director, Office of Civil Rights, Room 326-W, Whitten Building, 14th and Independence Ave, SW, Washington, DC 20250 or Call 202-720-5964 (This information is on the … And Justice For All poster) • Complaints need to be filed within 180 days from the alleged discrimination.

  9. Complaint Procedures • If staff receive a written complaint they should document the date, the complainant, nature of complaint, and send complaint and documentation to the Vice President for Extension and Outreach with a copy to the REED. • Staff should inform those who make verbal complaints how to make written and notify supervisor of the verbal complaint.

  10. Documentation • Written evidence or proof of compliance efforts and their results • Should include names of parties involved, dates, what transpired and date the documentation was developed. • Program participation data is documentation
