Project background – Purpose and objectives • Dissemination of ESPON results using concepts as gateways to ESPON reports • Dissemination towards policy makers, practitioners and scientists, in particular those who would otherwise not be informed about ESPON • Help the actors concerned to define actions and policies for the development of regions, cities and other territories (relation concepts / results / practice). • Facilitating the information availability and stimulate the interest of the members of the TGs.

Status of the project Key activities so far: • Choice of 6 common concepts: territorial cohesion, regional competitiveness, sustainability, territorial governance, polycentrism, territorial impact • Choice of target groups: policy makers, scientists, practitioners at national, regional, local levels. • Development and dissemination of a common questionnaire + common template for questionnaire analysis (under process) • Building of a specific extranet for project management and for future dissemination purpose

Status of the project Key activities under way: • Analysis of the questionnaire results • Organisation in each country of the 1st national workshop (November to February) Next important steps : • Choice of the reports in relation with the concepts for which more information is needed (March - April 2012) • Follow up with the next steps according to the general methodology

Experiences of the project • Consensual choice of concepts • In most of the cases, good level of answers: choice of direct involvement (first contact by phone, in some cases direct interviews, material in national languages) of a small group of persons (10 to 15) •  Added value: • Members of TGs are considered as resource persons in their institutions and in position to disseminate information • Identify the precise needs of the members of TGs via the questionnaire & disseminate the appropriate information in a synthetic form and in national languages • Fostering exchanges between the policy makers, the practitionners and the scientist (transnational workshops) • New ideas for ESPON
