  1. Intake • Before you start the intake, the intaker should be trained for working with youngsters in prison • The intaker should in conversation in stead of go through the questions • Not every intakes leads to an APL proces • You have to chose whether it should lead to an APL or an advise • Motivation is a key point so should be included somewhere e.g. Emanuel video or other tool to motivate

  2. Portfolio • Portfolio should look more attractive • The agreement in the portfolio should be on a more understandable language level for the youngsters (Italy used a 10 golden rule-list) • Generic competences should be included in the portfolio model • Language used is sometimes too complex • CV-part was usable.PT used Europass, but this was too complicated and too much related to people with lots of work experience • Goalsetting: maybe we can put in the SMART criteria in the portfolio • Training the portfolio coaches in prison might help to improve the way of working • Sometimes both youngsters as well as the tutors need more support to use the portfolio

  3. Validation phase • Quality criteria checklist should be available at the beginning (everyone should know the criteria from the start) • It Italy not all aspects are applicable • Some criteria wer not possible in the context. Like doing an assessment in two settings

  4. Assessing the youngsters • If you do everyting right till now, the assesment will run properly • The assessment is seen as exciting by the youngsters. The assessor has to realise how this feels for the youngsters and create a save environment • Everyone used several methods for assessing • Make sure that if you start an APL procedure, you know where to find an assessor for the standard you want to use. Perhaps you have to create a database with assessors (Portugal already has such a database). • Planning assessors was more difficult than foreseen. • In Italy you need the province for assessment. This will not be possible within the timeline of the project.

  5. Report • In the Netherlands is according to the national standards so it is set • In Portugal it is difficult to use it because there is a different standard. Ana will send her repprts in the form she used • Edi used her own format

  6. Accreditation phase • In Italy at the end of the year the national qualification framework will be ready, but it will not be possible yet to make a comparison between the regional and the national level. The accreditation in the project will be on a regional level and with a certificate from CSCS • In Portugal the accreditation will be on a project level and it will be linked to the national qualification level. • In the Netherlands we can probably use EVP (APL till report phase, without accreditation) • Maybe we can give the boys a certificate for being part of the project (certificate; Simone & Wim will prepare this)

  7. Logbooks • They should be filled in directly after the APL procedure
