    2. Why It Matters Now…… Ancient Indians developed products that are still important today. They were the first people to domesticate chickens and the first Asians to produce cotton cloth.

    3. Why It Matters Now…. Hinduism ranks third among world religions in the number of followers (after Christianity and Islam).

    4. Why It Matters Now…. The spread of Hinduism and Buddhism shaped Asian cultures. Many Asian people still practice those religions today.

    5. Why It Matters Now…. Every day you use at least ten things that were invented in India. What are they? Yoga or meditation Medicine - Ayurvedic (one of th eoldest systems of medicine) Vegetarianism Cooking Ahimsa influenced Martin Luther King, Jr., who used nonviolent protests to gain rights for African Americans in the 1950’s and 1060’s.
