THE FIRST CHURCH, A MODEL TO FOLLOW ACTS 2:42 TO 47
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teachingand to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.
44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
It was a Church that learned: • "Persevere in the doctrine of the Apostles ..." (v. 42) THE PHRASE MEANS THAT THEY PERSISTED IN LISTENING
2. It was a Church in communion: Persevere "together" (v.42) AFFECTION OF THE BROTHERS IS SOMETHING THAT YOU NOT CAN FOUND IN OTHER PLACE
3. It was a Church that systematically remembered the Lord's Supper: "in the breaking of bread" ... (v. 42) ALSO TOGETHER IN UNITY, THEY REMEMBERED THE LOVE OF GOD
4. It was a Church that prayed: Unanimous "in prayer" ... (v. 42) PRAYING WITH ANOTHER BROTHER HELPS US TO BE MORE COHERENT IN PRAYER
5. It was a Church that shared: (Vs 44-45) THOSE EARLY CHRISTIANS HAD AN INTENSE SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR ONE ANOTHER
6. It was a Church that worshiped and rejoiced in the presence of the Lord: (V.46 THEY NEVER FORGOT TO VISIT THE HOUSE OF GOD
7. It was a Church in which God worked: "Marvels and Signs" took place ... (v. 43) WHEN TRUE CHRISTIANS GIVE THEMSELVES FROM THE HEART
Conclusion The human being grouped behind the same objective can perform titanic works , how much more will it be when in that unity it is guided and inspired by the Holy Spirit of God ...
