What was Demeter goddess of? • Demeter was goddess of agriculture (crops and farming) the harvest, nature, and the seasons. Demeter ‘s daughter, Persephone was captured by Hades and taken into the under world. Demeter roamed the Earth in search of her daughter , but never found her . In that time of sorrow all the plants and crops wilted and the Earth was cold , this was called Winter.
Who was Demeter related to? • Demeter's siblings were : Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, and Zeus • Demeter’s children were: Persephone, Zagreus, Despoina, Arion, Plutus, and Philmelus. • Demeter’s Parents: Cronus and Rhea
What is Demeter’s symbol? • Demeter’s symbol is a torch, sheaf of wheat, or barley.
What was Demeter’s weapon? • Demeter’s weapon was the power of starvation because she was ruler of agriculture, harvest, nature, and the seasons.
