I. We have the hope of being vindicated in this life (13-17) • We have not need to fear the threats of the enemies of God. • Our suffering is temporary. • Our suffering results in blessing. • We have an answer for our hope. • Our suffering gives us the opportunity to defend our faith. • Our answer is to be given with gentleness and respect.
Hebrews 9:28 “So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”
II. We have the hope of eternal life in heaven (18-22) • Christ died for sins once for all (18-19). • The righteous was put to death in His body for the unrighteous. • He died to bring us to God. • Christ saved us by his resurrection (20-22) • Baptism symbolizes our salvation. • Baptism is a pledge of a good conscience toward God.
1 Corinthians 15:14 “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.”
