Milton Friedman Nobel Friedman was the leader of the Chicago school of economics which advocated for low taxes, lower government spending, less regulations and that social welfare causes more problems than it fixes. Friedman also believed that it was the Federal Reserve that caused the Great Depression. He won the Nobel peace Prize for economics in 1976.
