Difference between CPD and Annual Training

Finding out if a vehicle is safe and roadworthy is an essential requirement in the United Kingdom, especially if it is over three years old. And this assessment is done via the MOT test each year. But what about the ones who are conducting the tests? How do they acquire their status? And more importantly, how is CPD different from MOT annual training for testers? These are some of the questions that have been raging in recent times. Hence, this article is aimed to give a clear idea for all the beginners in the field.<br>https://www.motexpert.org/

  1. Difference Between CPD And Annual Training Finding out if a vehicle is safe and roadworthy is an essential requirement in the United Kingdom, especially if it is over three years old. And this assessment is done via the MOT test each year. But what about the ones who are conducting the tests? How do they acquire their status? And more importantly, how is CPD different from MOT annual training for testers? These are some of the questions that have been raging in recent times. Hence, this article is aimed to give a clear idea for all the beginners in the field. The beginning In 2016, the Drive and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) under the UK Department of Transport started a new annual course that was made compulsory for all MOT testers. This helped them gain the latest knowledge to retain their position as a tester. Initially, the DVSA named this program the CDP, with the word 'training' used occasionally and interchangeably for the MOT academy documentation. This use of two terms for the same program caused quite the confusion and, therefore, needed to come to a stop. What does CPD mean?

  2. The term CPD refers to Continuing Professional Development. It is a broad spectrum that controls the tracking and recording of one's knowledge and skills acquired in their line of work, either formally or informally. In the general sense, the term 'development' is assigned to anything that involves a broader application relating to competence and capability. Therefore, it is referred to as a portfolio or physical folder containing documents that prove one's professional standing. In the case of the MOT industry, the CPD covers an entire package ranging from health and safety protocols, testing blogs and even learning the specifics of new equipment and vehicles. How did Annual Training come to be? A year after the CPD was introduced by MOT Northampton and other related towns, the program's official name was changed to Annual Training. During this transformation, there was a vast shift in the syllabus and format of the training course, along with the name. This new MOT academy process follows the original CPD model that focuses on the safety-related segments in small quantities. Here, all testers are allowed to gain and update their skills little by little each year in bite-sized chunks. Procedure for Annual Training According to the new MOT annual training, each tester must undergo three hours of training between 1st April and 31st May. This training spans five years, during which the testers will have to cover a minimum of 16 hours. As for the learning part, the syllabus will be based on specific topics stipulated by DVSA. Following is the procedure for the annual training: · The planning Each year the DVSA publishes a training syllabus divided into two segments: Group A and B. Group A usually comprises class 1 and 2 vehicles, whereas Group B consists of classes 3, 4, 5 and 7. Some common topics are brakes, lighting and signal equipment, headlamps, driver's view of the road, etc. · The training Next comes the training part, which can be completed per the tester's personal and organizational needs and requirements. There are three primary methods: group training, individual training and training providers. · The recording According to MOT Northampton and others, each tester must record their training and practice sessions. This needs to be done over the entire duration of the training and kept handy for when the DVSA call at your vehicle testing station. · The assessment

  3. This is the last and most crucial part of the annual training. Each year the tester, after completing their training session, has to sit through and pass an annual assessment. This helps maintain the standard of testers in charge of road and vehicle safety.
