  1. Essential packing Tips for Moving a House Some people have never moved in their lives. Others have done it before and simply forgotten how complicated it can be. For anyone who needs it, we’ve outlined the essential packing tips for people moving home. 1.Give yourself plenty of time Even if you have months left before your move date, start packing up items that you rarely use. A large house can take as much as 3 months to fully pack so don’t leave everything until last minute and overlook something important in your rush. 2.Work your way inwards Start with rooms you don’t use that much like your garage or loft. This way, you won’t disrupt your day-to-day life very much. Little by little, move your way towards rooms which get a lot of traffic, like your living room. We also recommend packing your rooms one by one rather than tackling multiple rooms at a time. This is because it creates a logical system, reduces overall confusion and makes it easy when you want to unpack items. 3.Declutter and donate Don’t just move clutter from one house to another. If you don’t need it, get rid of it. And even better, give it to someone else who can use it, or a charity.

  2. 4.List your inventory as you go You don’t need to create a spreadsheet – but it would help! Once the moving process starts, it’s hard to go back and check what is in each box, so make a list of everything you have packed and label the boxes with relevant titles. 5.Roll your clothes when packing Rolling reduces the amount of space clothes take and wrinkles are less likely to appear. So you can store more clothes in one box and not worry about ironing them before you put them back in your wardrobe. It’s also incredibly easy to do as packing technique. 6.Store valuables carefully There is some debate about whether or not to store all your valuables in one place. While this might be a good idea for keeping track of all your sentimental and expensive items, if this is the one box that gets lost, damaged or left behind, then you have just deleted all the most important objects from your life in one swoop. Nevertheless, we recommend keeping important items in a safe location and tracking where they are at all times. You might even want to give certain valuables to your family or put them in a safety deposit box at the bank. 7.Pack your important documents Don’t leave your birth certificate or important bank statements in the bottom of a random box. Make a safe place for them (as mentioned above) and bring them with you. If it is a long- term move you are making, you are more than likely to need them for various reasons like opening new bank accounts or visa related situations. 8.Book a reliable removal company You could risk delays or damage to your property if you hire an unreliable removal company. Even if your shipment is delivered on time, you may only realise months down the line that certain items in your boxes have been damaged due to the way they have been handled by international movers and packers. In this situation, you need excellent customer service and company policies to handle your complaints.

  3. 9.Label everything We briefly mentioned this before, but don’t forget to label all your boxes and even the smaller boxes within your boxes. If you can create some kind of colour coded system to help the movers and yourself unpack, then that would be even better! If you have children, this is a good way to keep them occupied. Simply ask them to make various labels for the kitchen, bedrooms, living room etc. The important thing is that you can identify and access the belongings that you need as soon as you get to your destination. Movers International is a leading removals company that specialises in relocation and shipping services to destinations both within Europe and beyond. It also has a significant presence in many UK regions, handling storage and removals to places such as Spain, Portugal, Germany and France. Through a team of dedicated and expert international movers and packers, it continues to grow its network and reputation.
