HOW TO DEAL WITH FALSE TEACHING 1 John 2:18-29 v.18 – “IT IS THE LAST HOUR” This is different from “last days” Acts 2:17; Heb. 1:2 Different from “last day” John 6:39,40,44,54, 11:24; 12:48 Could he mean “the last hour” of unity and consistent fellowship as foretold in Acts 20:28-30; 1 Tim. 4:1? What caused this division? Antichrists 2 John7; 1 John 4:2-3; 1 Jn. 2:22-23 (John 5:23) v.19 –”THEY WENT OUT FROM US … WERE NOT OF US” “They went out” necessitates they had been part of us “They would have continued” infers they had begun Heb. 3:12-14; 4:1, 11; 2 Pet. 2:20-22

HOW TO DEAL WITH FALSE TEACHING 1 John 2:18-29 v.20 – “YOU HAVE AN ANOINTING … YOU KNOW ALL THINGS” v.21 – Not written because you don’t know, because you do know v.24 – Let that abide which you heard from the beginning v.27 – You do not need that anyone teach you (John 16:13) Eph. 3:3-5; 1 Cor. 2:10-13; 2 Tim.3:16-17; Jude 3 vv.28-29 – ABIDE IN HIM … HAVE CONFIDENCE Are Those who “Have an Anointing” the same as the “Spiritual” in 1 Cor. 2:14-16 ? Calvinism – “only the elect can really understand …” “Natural” man – “foolishness” 1 Cor. 1:18, 21 “Spiritual” – judges all things, 1 Cor. 2:6 Rom. 8:5-8
