This study evaluates the efficacy of a comprehensive prevention program aimed at reducing alcohol consumption among first-year college students. The program focuses on developing life skills to address substance abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle. Results show significant preventive effects on alcohol consumption behavior.

RISKS & CHALLENGES PROGRAM GENERAL FEATURES • Universal, Comprehensive and Multicomponent Life Skills Development Prevention Program aimed at students of the 1st year of Higher Education • 8 weekly/ 2 hours group sessions format • Acquisition and development of various life skills to deal with alcohol and substance use • Promotion of a healthy lifestyle

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS • Significant preventive effects of the Risks & Challenges Program on students alcohol consumption behavior • Comprehensive prevention programs are effective in reducing alcohol consumption and associated morbidity and mortality • The implementation of universal SPA prevention programs has a potential positive effect on students' academic success • Universities, coordinated with the health system, should consider health promotion as one of its vertebral axes
