Collaborative Planning @MHJC FOREST COAST Done by Whanau/PLC (no Departments)- Students and teachers belong to a Whanau - Specialist Learning Area teachers represented in Whanau - Students have secondary school timetable (moving to each class) - Teachers who teach the same classes plan together Authentic, Relevant & Engaging Contexts - No pre-written schemes from departments - A scheme is digitally completed during the course of the learning & teaching - Authentic experiences and application of learning at its heart - Multiple learning areas collaborating - student voice WATER MOUNTAINS

Investigate how heat from the sun, the earth and human activities is distributed around earth by the geosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere • Yr 10 Maths and PEH: Gender Equality Context Achievement Objectives - PEH Investigate the societal influences on the well-being of student communities. Understand how attitudes and values relating to difference influence their own safety and that of other people. • Yr 10 Maths and Social Studies: Census Context Achievement Objectives - Social Science Understand how systems of government in New Zealand operate and affect people’s lives….

  11. 50/50 - Inequality/Equality with Aly and Tashi Math and PEH driven context Students thought that Music Videos are health influencers. But why might this be? Is the gender inequality gap existent in music videos? And if yes, how do we go about changing how genders are portrayed?

  12. Out of this World with Gill & Chandana Math and Science driven context Exploring through Plan & Do Challenges Team teaching Beginning of the week Two hour block with Two classes Separate Math and Science lessons for the remainder of the week

  13. MHJC Data Embassy with Meera and Kate Math and Social Science driven context Census results & analysis used to by Sci/Eng in a GM Context as well as the next Math/PEH/Glob context focused Health and Financial Wellbeing

  14. Project conclusion….. Math Achievement - accelerated & enriched ENGAGED low achieving Math students, and it provided PURPOSE for the high achieving Math students
