What is a Search Engine A collection of programs that gather information from the Web is called a search engine. After the information is gathered, it is then indexed and put into a database so that it can be searched. Spiders or robots are the Programs that gather the information. A tool for finding information in its database is provided by the search engine. Results from the keywords or phrases you enter are returned to you by the search engine after its search is completed. Descriptions, titles, or contents matching the search expression are presented as a list of hyperlinks.

There, it conducts a search of its database and directs the response back to your computer.
