Getting started with Kindle • Kindle Content (Purchase and access) • Login & access through Amazon account of the student • Content works on multiple devices and is synced across devices • Content purchase is permanent and limited to one Amazon account • Device for accessing Kindle content • With Kindle device : Kindle eReaders offer a variety of options with glare-free viewing (no blue light), distraction free experience (eg. no Whatsapp / FB) and charge that can last more than a week • Without Kindle device : Use Kindle Free Apps for PC/Mac, iOS and Android for viewing Kindle eBooks on your mobile / tablet / computer. Apps and Kindle eReaders work together as well and one user can have multiple devices across which content will sync

Kindle eBooks – Moving ahead • Process for securing Kindle eBooks • School shares list of titles for the class / year and Kindle shares availability of those eBooks • Price & quantity of each eBook is finalized and school gives PO to Kindle partner • Partner helps to execute access through purchase codes for each student (it can be done on the first day of session start or even a few weeks before, can be done on one day or spread across a week - basis schools’ needs) • Kindle team provides ongoing technical support for any issues faced. We also recommend teachers going through the experience first and getting acquainted / sharing any issues they foresee before students being given eBooks • Kindle team will do an orientation session for students / teachers / parents to help get acquainted with Kindle faster

Reading experience of Kindle eBooks • Built-in dictionary (Oxford) : easy for children to understand words immediately and without having to look anywhere else • Wikipedia & Google lookup : Select words and look them up directly on Wikipedia / Google with just one-click • Search inside the book : find words, phrases or chapters you are looking for in an instant, no need to keep flipping • Notes & Highlights : Highlight in different colors to mark important text. Notes appear on respective pages as well as consolidated at the end (for help in book revision)

Kindle Personal Documents Service – additional feature of Kindle Teachers and Student groups can send supplementary reading, notes, articles/news, notices etc to all students at once. • Free tool to send select file types directly to Kindle apps / eReaders registered to your Amazon account. These documents can be sent from an authorized email address. • Send docs by emailing them to your ‘Send to Kindle’ email id. It is unique email address created automatically when you register with Kindle. • Types of file formats supported (PDF, Kindle format, MS Word, HTML, RTF, Text, JPEG, GIF, BMP) • For PC app, use Import PDF option
