  24. High rate of Anemia among pregnant women • Issues are being addressed • BCC strategy piloted in 5 Districts this year • Will be expanded in 2008-2009 at a cost of Rs.2 crores

  25. Operationalisation of FRUs/ CHC • Total FRUs- 235 + 29 DHQ + 14MCH • To be strengthened 50 FRU • Budgeted for 9 months keeping in mind the time to recruit

  26. JSY - Noted the comments – will be followed Quality assurance is in place – will be strengthened as per GOI guidelines Referral transport – EMS will be in place this year . Other transportation are made available now through NRHM funds

The National Strategy of ARSH and the Implementation Framework • ARSH strategy proposed in PIP 2007 – 08 mainly concentrates on providing AFHS training to health functionaries. • This training is a part of the spill over activities of 2007 -08 • Based on the feed back received during the training sessions and from the qualitative surveys done on adolescents, a need based strategy was developed. • As a part of this strategy it was decided to involve medical colleges to provide outreach medical and counseling services and establish teen clinics.

  30. No mention of any Urban health proposal • Urban Health through adoption of Urban slum by medical colleges given in page 134 of RCH PIP

No mention of any tribal health proposal • Maternity waiting room are being built in two district as a part of tribal health initiative under RCH. • Most of the health facilities in the tribal areas have been made tribal friendly and special incentives like hill allowance and preference in allotment of PG seats have been instituted, • Tribal health programmes like screening for sickle cell anemia is been carried out by Tamil Nadu State Health System Project, • Hence to prevent over lap of activities state health society is concentrating on strengthening the health institutions in the tribal areas and ensuring provision of quality services.

  32. No mention of vulnerable group proposal • As a part of tsunami relief assistance (WHO/ UNICEF) huge amount of money has been pumped into the reconstruction of devastated health infrastructure in coastal districts • Many NGO are working among fisher folks meeting there RCH and health needs. • Hence to prevent over lap of activities state health society is concentrating on strengthening the health institutions in these areas and ensuring provision of quality services.

  33. Intra Communication • Intra Communication is been projected as a part of spill over activities 2007 – 08. • Tools will be developed this year and implemented as a part of an integrated BCC plan.
