  4. Human Nature Phrasal verbs/ similes/ phrases related to gestures A phrasal verb is a verb that is made up of a main verb together with an adverb or a preposition, or both. Typically, their meaning is not obvious from the meanings of the individual words themselves. (come across, come round etc.) Simile is a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid (e.g. as brave as a lion). Phrases related to gestures: nod, shake, shrug, snap one’s fingers, raise eyebrows, wink, scratch etc.
