Kumbhmela or kumbamela is a great Indian fair and pilgrimage festive in Hinduism. Kumbhmela has a great history behind its celebration. Kumbh which means, the sacred pitcher between god and demons that continued for 12 divine days, which are likely to be considered as 12 years long. As the great Kumbhmela is celebrated every 12 years.
The most number of visitors were gathered in 2013 with 120 million visitors! That with thousands of holy saints, many followers, sadhus, sants. People across India and some people who even follow Hinduism or are bhakts of Indian gods come here. It is said that, whenever a person who is Hindu by their religion should at least visit Kumbh ka Mela once in their lifetime as it is believed that when one visits there, they wash off all their sins.
The major attractions of this divine fair is the main thing for which people all across the world come, to take a dip in the sacred rivers. To enjoy and witness the sacred worship or “mahaaarti” at the banks of the rivers, with longing kirtans, mantras and a lot. Naga sadhus are the main attraction, they are the followers of lord Shiva and they don’t wear any piece of cloth on them.
