  3. Class Activity • Name some animal pest: • Birds • Rodents • Skunks • Regional pest such as ground hogs, bats, wolves, raccoons, and deer

  4. Why are certain animals considered pests? • Because they: • Damage property • Crops/feed • Food • Even livestock • They can even carry disease that can harm people and animals.

  5. How are animal pests controlled? • Can be controlled by: • Destroying their habitat • Encouraging natural predators • Shooting the pest • Trapping the pest

  6. How are animal pests controlled? • Poisoning the pests with pesticides is also an option. • Choosing the pest control will be determined by the legal status of the control measure, the cost, and the effectiveness.

  7. What Pesticides are used? • Pesticide- any chemical agent that kills unwanted weeds, fungi or animal • Rodenticides- pesticides that kill rodent pests such as mice and rats.
