  2. Attendance at The Gleed • Many students at the Gleed have an attendance rate around 90% • Most parents and students think that is pretty good • So what does an attendance rate of 90% look like and what does it mean?

  3. For a student with 90% attendance it means that he is absent from lessons for the equivalent of one half-day every week

  5. If students attendance is consistently 90% throughout their time at school, over 5 years they will miss the equivalent of one half of a school year

  6. How do you think that will affect a student’s chances of doing well in school? Research suggests that 17 days missed from school in a year equates to a full GCSE grade Dentist ? Doctor ? Minor illness ? Truancy ? Shopping ? Holiday ?!!??? A* ? C/D ? G/U ?
