Evidence-based decision-making:-Understanding the issues • What do we mean by the ‘evidence base’? • What do we know?; What are the gaps? • What resources can we draw upon to improve understanding of challenges? • Strategic Assessments / SOA Local Area Profiles • How do we improve the evidence base / share ‘what works’?
Evidence-based decision-making:-Who should do what? What outcomes are we seeking to address? Short, medium and long-term outcomes Who does the issue impact upon? Whose responsibility? What interventions actually work (and represent good VFM)? Determining the optimal mix of interventions Partner responses - Achieving ‘more than the sum of the parts’ Shifting the balance to preventative / early interventions
Evidence-based decision-makingGroup Discussion How would you use evidence to develop an effective partnership response to improve outcomes around Alcohol-Related Violence? Who are your allies/ who can help? And who is reluctant/ who do you need to persuade? What evidence would be most useful? What do you think should be done? (Consider from your group perspective e.g. Council, Police, NHS or Communities)
