  3. Rococo Subject Matter • Epitomized the lifestyle of rich nobles • Romantic couples often in elegant outdoor settings such as Versailles • “Back to nature” and mythological themes,very superficial • Often integrated angels or goddesses into the pictures.

  4. Rococo Characteristics • light and lively colors and designs • curves and ribbon designs on gilded woodwork. • Paintings graceful with more feminine colors: pastels, pinks, light blues, silver and gold.
