Mainstreaming • Helping countries move… From this… …to this Tanzania’s mining cadaster
Why mainstreaming ? Transparency should be an integral part of how governments manage their sector. EITI reports are not the only tool for bringing about transparency. • Some benefits: • Flexibility in approach to disclosure method of EITI data • Cheaper – avr. cost EITI Report $130k • More up-to date information • Avoids duplication • No change to disclosure requirements. • No compromise on reliability and comprehensiveness of data.
Mainstreaming & data accessibility Challenge: Hard copy and PDF EITI reports difficulty extracting data limited analysis less impact on public debate and reform

Future EITI reporting Past: EITI report is a compilation and publication of data Future: EITI report is an analysis of data, drawn from existing online sources • MSG retained, slight amendments to its role and mandate • www.eiti.xx becomes a hub/map, directing readers to relevant government websites for government data • Company templates either published on company websites, or on www.eiti.xx, using existing templates • EITI Report + APR = providing an analysis of last year’s results and potentially projections.
