  1. Your Home is your Castle An unkempt and untidy home is a reflection on its owners. Although people think it’s only the inside that counts, more people see your front yard than the inside of your house. Keeping your outdoors organized is not only a vital part of keeping your house tidy, but is also the face that you represent to the world and often the first impression you make with visitors.

  2. Step 1: Declutter For starters, gather what is lying around your yard and see what is and what is not worth keeping. Whatever doesn’t meet your criteria should be disposed of either by placing it in the garbage, recycling bin, or selling it if it has some value.

  3. Donate! You can also donate particular items to your local charity organizations. Call to verify that your items are accepted by the organization and schedule a drop off time to deliver your belongings. This can help hold yourself accountable for getting rid of the items, and helping others.

  4. Step 2: Mow the lawn Once the first step is complete get out the lawn mower and mow that lawn! If that’s not your style, contact your lawn service or gardener to come and do the job.

  5. Don’t forget the bushes If you have overgrown trees, bushes, and the like, make a point of pruning, trimming, or cutting them as required. It's like giving your backyard a haircut, it immediately looks neater.

  6. Step 3: Storage No doubt when gathering what was strewn around your lawn, pavers, or decking you found toys, gardening equipment, and probably a watering hose. If you don’t own a hose reel, invest in one. Leaving your hose unfurled around the garden is not only unsightly but also dangerous. Toys should be returned inside or placed in deck boxes that can be located in strategic points around the yard.

  7. Larger items Larger pieces, such as gardening equipment, need to be stored in a garden shed and kept safely away from children and pets. If you don’t own a garden shed, ready- made plastic garden sheds are a simple, cost-effective storage solution for the outdoors. They come in different colors and usually don’t require a permit. Stackable outdoor furniture, when maintained, gives your outdoors a clean, structured appearance.

  8. Get it over with! As you can see, keeping your outdoors organized is not a problem. If it has fallen into a state of disarray, the initial process may take a little time, however once that has been cleaned up, maintaining a tidy appearance will not require much investment of your time.
