  1. BRAINSTORMING TECHNIQUE ENGINEERING QUALITY

  2. DEFINITION & HISTORY • Brainstorming is a group creativity technique by which efforts are made to find a conclusion for a specific problem by gathering a list of ideas spontaneously contributed by its members. • It is a way to generate ideas within a group setting. • The term was popularized by Alex Faickney Osborn in the 1953 book Applied Imagination.

  3. OBJECTIVE & PRINCIPLE • The main objective of brainstorming is to elicit ideas from a group of people. Used in a structured way so this technique can be highly effective way of moving participants out of conflict and towards consensus. • Brainstorming is founded on the principle that the quantity of ideas increases their quality.

  4. IMPORTANCE #Creative team brainstorming improves individual critical thinking and problem solving skills as an individual and a team. # Team members will often feel more open to bouncing ideas off one another and seeking advice on individual projects. So its take away the possibilities of anchoring by letting people generate ideas individually first, before coming together to discuss and elaborate #Make the objectives crystal clear from the start. #Just as with other collaborative meeting techniques, allow everyone to have a say. Facilitate the session so that the people who are quiet have equal time in the spotlight as those who have the tendency to dominate discussions.

  5. BRAINSTORMING TECHNIQUE • Brain writing • Figuring storming • Online brainstorming (brain-netting) • Rapid ideation • Round robin brainstorming • Starbursting • Stepladder technique
