Science Overview Mrs. Gilcrease & Mrs. Hubacek Key Concepts: Chemistry: Properties of Matter, Magnetism, State of Matter, Density, Solubility, Conductivity Force and Motion: Types of forces on objects: Gravity, Friction, Push/Pull Energy: Investigate various forms of energy such has mechanical, light, sound, and electrical Weather/Climate and Water Cycle: Compare and contrast weather and climate and learn the steps of the water cycle. Earth Science: Rock cycle, formation of fossils, creation of fossil fuels, landforms, rotations of earth & moon. Life Science: Ecosystems, Organisms, and adaptations Space: Moon phases, order of the planets, and tides History of Science: Famous scientists and important discoveries Major Assignments, Review sheet answer keys, and projects will be posted to our faculty websites.

We study the history of the United States and focus on our history, geography, explorers, government and culture. How to help your child be successful in 5th grade! • 1. Set up an atmosphere that fosters success. • 2. Allow them to learnfrom their mistakes. • 3. Teach them to self-advocate for theirgrades. (absent make-up work, and corrections). • 4. Talk to them often. Keep those lines of communication open. • 5. Check grades and agenda signaturesregularly. • 6. Know that we are your partners in this journey. • 7. Check the calendar regularly for tests and homework on faculty websites.
