Summary of findings – Country Responses • Almost all countries have ICT strategy (not specifically for 4IR) • But most are from 2011-2018 • Most in initial stages of implementation • Most mention education/ skills, but generally focused on connectivity • Countries expect a big impact of new technologies • Mostly in services and agriculture • A small range of technologies are mentioned • But fairly general about the impact on jobs/ skill requirements • Ministries of Higher Education/Skills Development largely unprepared • Offer some services through digital platforms • But digital skills of staff are very limited

  5. Status of implementation of national ICT policy/strategy across countries *Foot note: Based on country responses, stage of implementations for Cameroon & Senegal was not clear. Hence, they have been assumed to be in "made progress" stage to not overstate their progress.

  6. Countries have mentioned some technologies – but fairly narrow range…

  7. …And fairly general answers about the types of jobs that will be created…

  8. But most countries have very limited staff to support digital platforms

  9. Most staff have computers and broadband, but digital skills are minimal
