Importance of Yajna. Sankirtan Yajna. Bhagavad-Gita As It Is Chapter 3 Text 10-13.
Text 10 saha-yajïäù prajäù såñövä puroväca prajäpatiù anena prasaviñyadhvam eña vo 'stv iñöa-käma-dhuk In the beginning of creation, the Lord of all creatures sent forth generations of men and demigods, along with sacrifices for Viñëu, and blessed them by saying, "Be thou happy by this yajïa [sacrifice] because its performance will bestow upon you everything desirable for living happily and achieving liberation."
Material creation – a chance to conditioned souls to go back to Godhead. Praja pati – The lord of all the living beings. The Lord created this material world to enable the conditioned souls to learn how to perform yajïas (sacrifices) for the satisfaction of Viñëu, so that while in the material world they can live very comfortably without anxiety and after finishing the present material body they can enter into the kingdom of God. Yajna – The purpose of creation
Sankirtan-Yajna kåñëa-varëaà tviñäkåñëaà säìgopäìgästra-pärñadam yajïaiù saìkértana-präyair yajanti hi su-medhasaù "In this Age of Kali, people who are endowed with sufficient intelligence will worship the Lord, who is accompanied by His associates, by performance of saìkértana-yajïa."
Text 11 devän bhävayatänena te devä bhävayantu vaù parasparaà bhävayantaù çreyaù param aväpsyatha The demigods, being pleased by sacrifices, will also please you, and thus, by cooperation between men and demigods, prosperity will reign for all.
The position of demigods • The demigods - empowered adminis-trators of material affairs. • Compared to different partsof the body of Lord. • Demigods pleased by per-formance of sacrifices & supply all necessities. • All activities become purified.
Text 12 iñöän bhogän hi vo devä däsyante yajïa-bhävitäù tair dattän apradäyaibhyo yo bhuìkte stena eva saù In charge of the various necessities of life, the demigods, being satisfied by the performance of yajïa [sacrifice], will supply all necessities to you. But he who enjoys such gifts without offering them to the demigods in return is certainly a thief.
Atheisam – the society of thieves. • All sacrifices for Supreme, but one who does not know Supreme Lord, for him sacrifices to demigods recommended. • All necessities of life supplied by demigods and cannot be produced by human society. • No sacrifice – thieves.e.g. No bill payment – supply stops.or carpenter taking the furniture away.
yajïa-çiñöäçinaù santo mucyante sarva-kilbiñaiù bhuïjate te tv aghaà päpä ye pacanty ätma-käraëät The devotees of the Lord are released from all kinds of sins because they eat food which is offered first for sacrifice. Others, who prepare food for personal sense enjoyment, verily eat only sin. Even eating vegetarian food is sinful – only food offer to Krishna is free from sin. Happiness through only sacrifices. Best sacrifice for present age is Sankirtan-Yajna, the congregational chanting of Krsna’s Holy Names. Text 13
