Overview SciFi& Preshower Trigger System • Basic scheme: • Analog front-end • Mixer crate • Digital front-end w/ controller • Collector/Broadcaster system (octant/sextant/quadrant) • Trigger Term (singlet) board • (Muon) trigger manager • Links: • Internal all LVDS • Serial copper (AMCC) for 80 sector links to muon • Serial fiber (g-link) to L2, L3 • 7 crates in 3 separate subsystems; • test by chain DFEA DFES DFEF Trigger Meeting

Components & Subsystems • Digital Board daughter cards come in two flavours: • single width for Axial trigger (DFEA) • double width for everything else : • DFEF, DFES, • Collector ('octet') cards CTOC, FPSS, CPSS, • Concentrator ('singlet') cards CTTT and FPTT. • System has 7 crates, 3 separate chains: • axial tracker & central preshower DFEA - CTOC - CTTT - MTM - L1FW (with L2 sidechain CTOC - CTQD - L2CTT) • Forward Preshower DFEF - FPSS - FPTT - MTM -L1FW (with L2 side chain FPSS - L2FPS) • L2 only chain DFES - CPSS - L2CPS DFE Daughtercard Trigger Meeting

L1 SciFi  Hardware Installation • common motherboard: full production done (stuffed boards in hand). • DFE single width daughter card: full production in hand. • DFEA assemblies: about 50% of tested DFEAs should be ready by May 5th; hopefully 100% before end of access. • Double width daughter card: three prototypes tested ok= enough for chain tests; problem with production (BGA attachment). Doing temperature profile for soldering right now; very little chance of production and testing before end of access. • Crates, backplanes & power supplies: crates need to be removed, and additional alignment hardware for transition modules installed. • cables: • SVX/Sequencer installed. • optical fibers installed. • Long LVDS: installed. • Short LVDS: to be installed with modules. L1 SciFi  Firmware Status • Previously missing items: • L3 sender done • CTTT done • Still to be done: • chain tests (in hardware) • overall, about 1 month behind schedule (compared to schedule from early February 2001) • => should have CFT hit-count trigger installed about mid-May. L1 SciFi Trigger Commissioning • Plan for 2 week access: • fix crates (transition module alignment) • install DFEC and one module (DFEA) in each crate • install 50 % (100% ?) of DFEAs • CFT hit-count chain test; finish CFT/CPS L1 functionality • rewrite DFEC software • solve double-wide production problem • work on status display and monitoring • Goal: working CFT system by the time AFE8's are installed and working (mid-July?)
