However, recommendations of when you must test have changed drastically over the year. When the virus started circulating initially in the U.S., only the persons with proper symptoms could get tested. Now that the situation has stabled a little bit and testing has become comparatively easier, many people think: Under which condition they must do a COVID-19 test? Here are the situations you must note, according to experts. Who Should Get Tested? Anyone who thinks that they should test themselves must test. Especially, suppose you are in a community where there were many positive cases around you. In that case, you are recommended to test yourself at least once a month routinely. This is especially recommended when you develop some kind of symptoms.

  2. Furthermore, DHEC advises routine monitoring to those with established exposure or exposure issues. Public health staff can detect asymptomatic people and interrupt the continuing spread of the infection through regular monitoring. Those who have some kind of COVID-19 symptoms should isolate themselves from others and get screened as soon as possible. People with Close Contacts Without Symptoms of COVID-19 If you have come close to positive in COVID 19 testing, you are recommended to test yourself. The Quarantine period is at least 14 days in this situation. It may vary depending on the home you are living in. You must test as quick as possible if you have symptoms. Even if you do not develop any symptoms, try to test yourself within 7 days. •In case you have tested positive for COVID-19, maintain a quarantine of 10 days beginning on the day when the samples were collected. You may or may not develop any symptoms even after testing positive. Don’t repeat the test to go back to work or school. Consider yourself a biological weapon who can spread the virus to others. •If you are tested negative, complete the quarantine period. There is no need to do repeat tests. Sometimes people don’t get any symptoms even after 14 days of being infected. Persons That Are Regularly in The Community Without Signs of COVID-19 When you are regularly out in society, DHEC advises checking at least once per month. When you have not been able to obey safety precautions, such as

  3. social distancing from others and wearing a mask, you should test more frequently. •If you test positive for COVID-19, you will need to complete a 10-day isolation period starting on the day the sample was collected. Anyone who has been in direct touch with you up to two days before the test will need to be quarantined for 14 days after the last contact. •If you test negative for COVID-19, you should not have to isolate. You can still exercise social distancing and wear a mask when in public settings to reduce potential disclosure. Additional Information Regarding Testing •You do not require another test until 3 months after the test date or until symptoms have begun once you have had a positive test. •It is also vital to test kids, especially if they have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19. •An antibody test is also done to check if you were previously affected by the virus. It does not tell you when and where. However, it will not mean that you are immune. Support yourself and your community by not spreading the virus. For that, regular testing is necessary. Find a testing booth near you.
