Annette first met Maggie 8 years ago when she transitioned home from hospital after a minor surgery. Then, Maggie's husband went into residential care, and she needed a little help around the house.

In addition, Maggie had a piano, and Annette would give impromptu concerts, much to Maggie's delight. Annette would even drop by on her days off to leave a homemade cake or other treat for Maggie. When Maggie passed away, Annette met with Maggie's family. Maggie's daughter, Leigh, said that the last 8 years of her life, Maggie was in the best hands. "I knew Mum was being loved and cared for as I would have. Annette and Mum were incredibly fond of each other. I must say, she's more like family now." Annette explains her approach to caring.
