1. Principle of the home base continuïty EJI is and shallremainanassociationornetworkhavingits base in Europeconsisting of Europeannationalmemberassociations. Thereforenomemberassociations in countriesoutside the European continent.
2. Principle of globalpresence EJI as anEuropeannetwork has an interest in allianceswithlawfirms, correspondent members, outsideEurope in keyeconomicextra-europeancentres (100 citiespolicy).
3. Principle of acknowledgement of varyinginterests EJI is a networkthaton the wholeconstitutes a heterogene network of lawfirms, some of which have a predominant interest in the nationalnetwork, othershaving a predominant interest is the international aspects of the network. This is to beacknowledged and formalised.
4. Principle of diversification of EJI-services EJI as anorganisation, togetherwith the Europeannationalassociations, must beable to provide tailor made service-levelsforboth kinds of lawfirms, namelythosethat have a predominant interest in the nationalnetwork, thoseothersthat have a predominant interest in the international aspects of the network.
5. Principle of democracy and transparency All thoselawfirms in EJI thatpaycontribution to EJI, beitindirectlyordirectly, are EJI members and shall have votingrights in the GA of EJI according to the amount of contribution, withstrongvotingweightpreferencefor the home base of EJI, being the Europeannationalmemberassociations.
The business case of the Board of EJI behind the proposedstatutes. Three corner stones: a. continuity of EJI service levelsforlawfirmsbeing a memberof the Europeannationalmemberassociationsand forcorrespondent members b. introducingtailor made EJI service levels and membershipcriteria forPartner Firms. c. creatingpossibilities of increasing EJI revenues (and expenditures) byintroducingdiversification of EJI service levels / notsolelydependingupon (increasing) contributionsfromEuropeannationalmemberassociations.
