SimpleFit Luxaflex SimpleFit Blinds
SimpleFit Products Duette Plisse Metal Venetians Roller Blinds Luxaflex SimpleFit blinds are available from four collections. Luxaflex Duette shades, Luxaflex Plisse Blinds, Luxaflex Metal Venetian Blinds and Luxaflex Roller Blinds. The main difference to a standard blind is this system allows you to fit the blind to nearly any UPVC double glazed window without screwing any brackets into the customers windows.
How to Measure for a SimpleFit Blind The best thing we can advise, if this is your first time with SimpleFit, is download our ‘Measure Guide’. The first thing to do is assess the window – is the rubber seal exposed on the glass, or hidden behind the window frame. With a metal tape measure – measure the top, middle and bottom of the exposed glass, then repeat with the right, centre and left. As the images show.
How to Measure for a SimpleFit Blind Once you’ve measured your width and drop, you will need to check if the blind will fit into the window. The Depth of the beading can be measured with a Depth Gauge or a Tape measure – as shown. Please note min bead depth is 11mm and the max bead depth is 27mm. If the beading is deeper than 27mm then you can not fit a SimpleFit product, as it will not fit onto the brackets.
How to Measure for a SimpleFit Blind The last step to measuring for a SimpleFit is to find the correct profile, that will run down the back of the blind. The main purpose of the profile is to stop the blinds brackets from sliding together. The Profile will not stop light leaking around the side of the fabric, and will not make the blind a ‘black out’ blind. To choose the correct profile, the easiest way is to have a sample of all of the profiles. To organise this just call the Stockport Customer Service office.
Profile Sizes With your samples, just offer them up to the window and see which one fits best. For Duette / Plisse and Metal Venetian there are four to choose from – A,B,C,D. If the rubber is exposed onto the glass then the profile you’ll need is A or B. If however the Rubber Seal is not covering any glass then the best two profiles are C and D. The most popular profile we use is Profile C. You can choose three different colours – White, Brown or Silver.
Profile Allowances If there is a gap greater than 1mm either side when you offer the profile up to the beading – this must be deducted from the overall width of the blind. If this is not deducted the cassette will not fit.
Reduced Overlap Reduced Headrail. This option is available for all models and products. If you are ordering to have two SimpleFit blinds next to each other, Reduced Headrail would be advisable. We will take a 10mm reduction of the headrail on both sides. The standard overlap is 35mm and with the reduced option we will make your headrail with a 25mm overlap. There is no extra charge for this option.
Order Forms Once you have measured your window, you may find it easier to fill out our order form, even if you have your own ordering system our Order Forms are a good guide to site surveys. All the information required for manufacturing is on the form. If you are to use you own order form please remember to use the phrase ‘Glass size’ as your measurement. Here we can see the Duette and Plisse order form, there is one for Metal Venetians and also a different one for Roller Blinds. They can be downloaded from the Luxaflex Dealer Portal.
Fitting SimpleFit The installation of SimpleFit blinds, is actually very easy. The hardest part is pushing the brackets behind the rubber beading, to make it easier for you we supply with every order a Bracket Insertion Tool (fitting tool). If your fitting Duette, Plisse or Metal Venetian blinds the fitting tool will be white, and if you are fitting a Roller Blind your fitting tool will be black. Each bracket has its own purpose made slot in the fitting tool, to start with place the top fixing brackets into the Tool and carefully push the metal legs behind the beading.
Fitting SimpleFit Once you have one bracket in place, repeat for the other side of the window. Similarly locate one of the bottom brackets in to the tool, and insert the bracket behind the rubber seal until the tool edges touch the beading at the bottom and side. Repeat this for the other side.
Fitting SimpleFit With the brackets in place, check they are vertically secure, place the side profile against the side of the frame – making sure the flat face is towards the glass, and the notch is towards the bottom. Slide the top edge into the slot of the bracket, push profile fully into position.
Fitting SimpleFit Then you will need to slide the bottom of the profile over the bottom bracket, repeat both sides. If needed you can insert the retention clips, normally needed on long sided profiles.
Fitting SimpleFit You are now ready to fit the blind. If you are installing a Venetian blind, make sure you remove the packing piece. Align the headrail end cap slot with bracket arms. Ensure head rail is correctly aligned and firmly press home. You will hear a positive click. It is advisable if you are fitting a Duette / Plisse or Metal Venetian blind to keep the rubber band around the blind, until you have applied the tension strings.
Fitting SimpleFit Now slide the tension cord feet over the brackets at the bottom of the window, making sure that the little hole in the foot goes over the button on the bracket, and the cord is on the inside of the feet. Repeat this on the other side. Now you are ready to cut the rubber band. Once you have done that pull the bottom bar down and push up a few times. The blind will now be ready to use. It really is that easy to install!
That’s SimpleFit. There are other alternatives – like with the Roller Blinds the profile is slightly different, and the fitting is similar. Also if you are fitting the ‘top down / bottom up’ Duette option this option is just the same to fit as a normal blind.
