  3. Click here to set PIN

  4. Try this First

  5. Last 5 of your SSN This should result in an email being sent to you with your temporary PIN, but…

  6. If after 5 minutes, you haven’t received an email yet or it was sent to an email.sc.edu address, use option 3. Some students have had issues with the previous page, but after faxing in the form, most students had a response from the office in about an hour.. Do this Next

  7. This is the same form used by returning USC students who have forgotten their PIN. This is your Social Security Number

  8. Return to this page and log in

  9. Click here to get to FAFSA info Glance at this page when you sign in. It usually lists important updates that you might need.

  10. This is one of the most important pages on VIP. We won’t go into most of the functions today, but you should be able to figure out what most of them do. Click here to check your FAFSA status

  11. If your application status is complete, congratulations, you can stop here. Otherwise, continue on…

  12. If your status is incomplete, click on the hyperlink and it will take you to a second page that will help you complete your application. Most likely you did nothing wrong to receive this status; the Dept. of Ed. randomly selects over 33% of records to verify accuracy.

  13. Your page will look similar to this, but will be specific to you. Follow the steps in the green column and within 2 workdays of turning everything in to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarship (on the Columbia Campus), your application status should change to “Complete”. Sometimes forms will have to be mailed as they contain information specific to you. This may take a little longer, but not much.
