  1. Action Plan Guidelines and Example: Problem: Hot Pink VW Bugs are an “endangered” vehicle.

  2. Action Plan to take Personal Responsibility—Due November 9th and 10th in Biology Upon completing your research, you must now reflect and think about what you could do locally to improve the health of your biome. Think about your vision for a better future. Note that you will have to include images that show this vision in your wiki collage, and you must present a detailed explanation of your action steps in your speech. In order to help you with this task, you will submit an outline to your biology teacher. This outline will be worth 50 points, and must include the following components:

  3. I. Goal for Action Plan: Set a goal of what you would ideally like to accomplish. For example, a goal can be to raise awareness of the plight of the polar bears in the tundra. Another example can be to raise money for the government agency that works to improve your environmental concern.

  4. Goal Example To increase the number of hot pink VW bugs that are produced in the United States.

  5. II Stake Holders: Include the special interest groups you will work with to accomplish your plan

  6. Stake Holders Example • Jennifer Duston who has a passion for pink VW bugs • Politicians • VW company • People in our community

  7. III. Specific action steps to accomplish the goal: Make a list of all the things you must do in order to accomplish your goals. Make sure to include all the materials necessary to accomplish your plan.

  8. Example of Specific action steps to accomplish the goal: • Enlist the help of Jennifer Duston! • Get a petition signed by 1,000 people to support the cause • Get support from Barack Obama • Form a letter writing campaign to convince VW to make more hot pink bugs

  9. Example of Specific problems That Must be Overcome Brainstorm some problems that you may encounter that would prevent you from accomplishing your goal. Then come up with a list of ways that you can overcome this problem. EX: some people don’t like hot pink • Give tax incentives to people who buy hot pink VWs • Get all the celebrities to drive hot pink VWs

  10. IV. Your Vision: Describe your vision of a better future. What would our biosphere be like should you succeed with your conservational efforts? How would your efforts affect the situation globally? Give specific examples of the direct impact your action plan will result in when you accomplish it.

  11. Example of Vision The world will be a better place when we have several cute cars on the road. People would smile whenever they saw a hot pink car = world peace!!!

  12. Rubric

  13. Abstract Guidelines and Example: Problem: Hot Pink VW Bugs are an “endangered” vehicle.

  14. Abstract Guidelines In your biology class, you will learn the basics of how to write an abstract. An abstract is a concise summary of your project. In general, you will need to write 2-3 sentences that sum up the significance of each image chosen. Your abstract will be one paragraph, and between 20-25 sentences in length. The abstract should flow nicely as you write about one image to the next. Use transitions so that it does not sound disjointed. The abstract writing will be graded by your biology teachers and will be worth 10 points.

  15. Example Collage

  16. Abstract Example The pink bug travels on freeways very well. When people drive and see the VW bugs on the freeways they smile. Unfortunately, some times these small cars are in accidents. When this happens they are likely to not be fixed and people are not able to drive them. This causes pink VW bugs to stop being found in parking lots around the city. Furthermore, people are not buying these cars, so dealerships are no longer selling them. The new line of pink cars are carried at the dealerships and pink bugs are no where to be found. Then you would continue to talk about the other pictures…
