  1. Unit 5: Triangles

  2. Journal Prompt • Letter to Mr. K – Part II • Write a letter to Mr. K addressing the following items • How do you think you did on yesterday’s test? • What did you do this unit that affected your grade?(good and/or bad) • Write a short statement about the difference between similar and congruent.

  3. Unit 5 Essential Questions • How can you use congruent triangles to solve problems? • What is special about two triangles with more than one side or angles that are congruent?

  4. Bonus Question • BASEBALL FIELD - To create a baseball field, start by placing home plate. Then, place second base 127 feet 3 3 8inches from home plate. Then, you can find first base using two tape measures. Stretch one from second base toward first base and the other from home plate toward first base. The point where the two tape measures cross at the 90 foot mark is first base. You can find third base in a similar manner. Why this process will always work?

  5. 4-1 Congruent Figures Definition: Congruent Polygons are polygons in which all corresponding sides and angles are congruent.

  6. Write all pairs of corresponding sides and angles:

  7. Naming Congruent Polygons Just like with similarity statements, ALWAYSlist corresponding vertices in the same order!

  8. Example: Write a congruence statement

  9. List all corresponding sides • List all corresponding angles

  10. If m<B=40 and m<O = 25, Find the measures of all other angles.

  11. If BG=2x+5 and FX=3x-8. Find x.

  12. Classwork/Homework • Complete the worksheet
