  2. What is the question? • What are the efficiencies of the trp, lac, tacI (lac UV5 + trp), and tacII (trp+ hybrid Pribnow+lac) promoters? • Are the hybrid promoters more efficient than the parent promoters?

  3. What are the claims? • The hybrid promoters are more efficient than the parent promoters • Useful for controlled expression of foreign genes at high levels

  4. What is the Proof? • Higher HGH production in tacI • Galactokinase levels (bottom of pg 24) • Made sure to control for tryptophan

  5. What Could be Wrong? • Sequencing technology was not as good • Used radioactivity to measure amount of phosphorylation

  6. What Next? • I think we already know….
