Ceasefire. The Problem. Accidental Shootings are when a firearm discharges unintentionally. The majority of these shootings happen when cleaning a firearm or when children are playing with the firearm. This is Micah. 2 years old Energetic and curious. My Worst Nightmare.

  6. Solution: Ceasefire • A small receiver embedded into the grip of the gun • A small passive RFID tag assigned to the owner • Firing pin block that prevents forward travel of the firing pin • Firing pin block moved when RFID tag comes into proximity to the receiver

  7. New Jersey Smart Gun Law • Under New Jersey law, passed in December 2002, only smart guns can be purchased in the state three years after personalized handguns become commercially available.

  8. Who’s the Customer? • There are 83 firearm manufacturers in the United States alone. • The top six firearm manufacturers are: • Beretta USA • Colt Firearms • Glock Firearms • Ruger • Sig Sauer • Smith & Wesson

  9. Solution Benefits • Prevent the accidental discharge of the firearm by all but the owner of the firearm • Keep children safer • Reduce the number of firearm thefts • Smart gun and regular gun will look the same • Thieves won’t know which will work for them
