  1. Established in 2005 and honoring the memory of founding Executive Director, Nancy Dowd, this home is located in a rustic setting of serene wildlife and rolling hills in Gloversville, New York.

  2. Hospice House “Our family spent many days in the Great Room looking out the window waiting for the wild turkeys to make an appearance and enjoying the beautiful seasonal decorations that the volunteers put up.”

  3. The Great Room “Our Family enjoyed many quiet times in the Great Room in front of the fire with Pops.”

  4. Bedrooms “Each room has its own special feel, andeach makes you feel special. They are equipped with all the comforts of home, including private bathrooms, without making it feel like a hospital.” Each room has a bed, armoire, closet, recliner and private phone. Residents are encouraged to bring personal items to make themselves feel right at home. Visitors are welcome and residents are encouraged to leave the home for personal activities if able.

  5. Dining Area “Meals are customized to resident’s needs and we were able to bring in mom’s favorite dishes. When she felt up to it, we sat down and enjoyed a meal together.”

  6. Bathroom “Everything is sparkling clean and bright, not to mention professionally equipped. We felt that Dad was in very safe hands there.”

  7. Nurses Station “ The Nurses Station was open and accessible and very often we found Mom sitting in her wheelchair visiting with the staff there so she wouldn’t be lonely.”

  8. Kids are People Too! “ Our children and grandchildren were always welcomed in the Hospice House to visit. There is a beautiful play area in the back for them to use and plenty of birdfeeders to keep them ( and us) entertained.”

  9. Special Services The Nancy Dowd Hospice Home also offers special therapies like music therapy, healing touch and massage.

  10. The Tranquility Room “The Tranquility Room was the perfect spot to sit and talk with family or to spend quiet time alone in meditation or prayer. The view looks out into the back grounds which are peaceful and quiet.”
