    3. The Scientific Method Observe and describe a phenomenon or group of phenomena. Formulate an hypothesis to explain the phenomena. In physics, the hypothesis often takes the form of a causal mechanism or a mathematical relation. Use the hypothesis to predict the existence of other phenomena, or to predict quantitatively the results of new observations. Perform experimental tests of the predictions.

    14. Constructing A Scientific Case: Arguments vs. Assertions Argument - We support the conclusions we draw in scientific papers using logical arguments. An argument is a connected series of statements to establish a definite proposition. Deductive arguments have three stages: (i) a premise - hypothesis or assumption (ii) an inference - process of generating inferences from true statements (propositions) (iii) a conclusion – the result you’re trying to prove We construct scientific arguments with propositions, i.e., true or false statements
