Anabolic Steroids Anabolic Steroids are synthetic substances related to the male sex hormones. Also called androgenic steroids. “Anabolic” – muscle building. “Androgenic” – increased masculinity. “Steroids” – a class of drugs.
Corticosteroids • Corticosteroids is a class of drugs used to treat arthritis and many other conditions. • These drugs act on the immune system by blocking the production of substances that trigger allergic and inflammatory actions, such as prostaglandins. e.g. Betamethasone, Budesonide, Cortisone, Dexamethasone, Hydrocortisone, Methylprednisolone, prednisolone, and triamcinolone.
