The Gharial and its history. Will they be history? Project By: Emily I may look jurassic but i'm not colosal
Who???? What???? Gharials are long slender animals. They have a long terrific snout and it’s a crocodilian. The gharial is a very unique animal. They can’t move their body above land because they spend almost 3 quarters of their lives in water.
Where are they anyway? The gharial only lives in parts of these places: Bangladesh, India, Idus,Brhumpatra, Ganges, the Mahanadi rainforest , Myanmar, and Kalan. A Gharials habitat is were they are most adapted to ,the calmer areas of fast flowing rivers.
What's on the menu? A adult gharial often eats small slippery fish but they occasionally will go on land and eat small dead lizards and birds. Also baby garials eat small invertebrates. MANEATERS? Gharials have been known to eat dead human bodies found floating in their habitats.
How come? The reasons that gharials are endangered is that fishermen chop there snouts off when they become helplessly entangled in their nets. People also believe there is medicine in there body and there habitats have been destroyed.
I think that it’s wrong that people kill them for no good reason. All they are is poor animals . They can’t kill you so why kill them. All the damage they can do is a broken bone or two ( if you messed with it). I think this is serious matter. My opinion!
Funny facts! • It has the narrowest snout of any species. • They make very tame pets. • Gharials are not dangerous at all ( even though they may look like it). • Gharials have eaten strange things such as jewelry.
