  2. GEOGRAPHY • Southeast Slovenia • Near Novo mesto (12 km) • 24 villages • Surface: 34,2 km² • Population: about 3000 people • There are a lot of vineyards, woods and fields • Altitude: 169 m

  3. HISTORY • Already settled in prehistory • Most graves were found under Vinji Vrh and Bela Cerkev • Its primary name was “Jezerske Toplice” (Lake Spa) – because of swampy land • Smarješke Toplice became municipality in 2006, its first mayor was and still is mag. Bernardka Krnc

  4. ECONOMY • Factories: Plastoform d.o.o. (plastic products) • 2 Honey Botiques • Apple orchards • A lot of restaurants, pizzerias and cafes • A few big farms with vineyards and big fields, meadows and pastures

  11. ATTRACTIONS • Touristic train takes people round Smarjeske Toplice • 23rd of the month we have a fair • Each year in May we have “smarjeski tek” (a run through Smarjeske Toplice) • Each year during the summer we have Rock Smarjeta (a rock concert) • We have many Nordic ways
