What is an Electronic Portfolio? • Digital collection of personal information by a learner • Represents accomplishments, goals, experiences, etc. • Presented to instructors, schools, employers, or other entities
Typical uses of Portfolios • Document and reflect on learning over time • Provide evidence of meeting professional standards • Provide evidence of learning and achievement for career planning • Institutional documentation for accreditation
Timeline for implementation • 2002—began reviewing best practice and eportfolio products • 2004—Aware of WebCT Portfolio • 2005—WebCT selected UNI as Portfolio Design Partner • 1999—began investigating campus interest
Timeline for implementation • 2006 • April—WebCT Early Access Program • Summer (Blackboard acquired WebCT) • Download full release & begin testing • Begin work with pilot faculty • Fall • Develop training & support materials • Startup of ePortfolio Advisory Committee
Timeline for implementation • 2007 • Spring • Blackboard portfolio pilot with selected courses • Training for pilot classes • Fall • Full availability to campus as requested
