  3. VENDOR RECORDS • Where do they get their records • OCLC? • Library of Congress? • Vendor database? Where did they get their records? Is it a reliable source

  4. VENDOR RECORDS • What do they do to the record? • Remove any information? If so, what? Subject headings? Summaries? • Add any information? If so, what? Good additions are summaries, content notes, and reading/interest levels.

  5. VENDOR RECORDS • What are their policies on Authority Control? • Do they apply Authority Control to and correct any errors? For: • Subjects • Names • Series

  6. VENDOR RECORDS • Check other library’s catalogs to make sure you are getting the full record. Library of Congress OCLC First Search • Talk with other librarians who are outsourcing.
